Back by popular demand, we are excited to release the 2023 version of the Guyu Green Tea Sampler.  While most of these teas were featured in our Mingqian presale box, there are a few teas exclusive to this later harvest.

All these teas were harvested just after the Mingqian festival in early to mid April, and in our minds encapsulate the true nature and characteristics of each of these teas.  The leaves are larger, the flavors stronger, and the price is cheaper, what more could you ask for?

This year we are going a bit overboard and including a total of 5 teas from several core green tea production regions in China.

Every box contains a total of 100 grams of fresh green tea, which includes 20 grams of the following five teas:

Guapian: Luan, Anhui - Toasted Oats, Cinnamon, Nettle, Daffodil

Biluochun: Suzhou, Jiangsu - Buttered Toast, Roasted Chestnut, Micro Greens, Alfalfa

Dragon Well: Hangzhou, Zhejiang - Lilacs, Sweet Cream, Chestnut, Edamame

Enshi Yulu: Enshi, Hubei - Baked Seaweed, Buttered Broccoli, Toasted Rice, Cream

Golden Green: Baojing, Hunan - Loquat, Graham Cracker, Spinach, Rock Candy

Having been plucked after April 4th, these teas are all Minghou picks that are excellent in every other respect. All five of teas look and taste great while also staying true to official processing standards.

The Guapian is unlike any tea in this box, its a Chinese green tea with an optimal pick date in the middle of April.  Made from plump individual leaves, rather than pairs of buds and leaves, this classic Anhui tea gives an intense flavor, aroma, and body feel that has won it a place in the Chinese tea market for hundreds of years. Its processing style includes wok whisking and basket baking over oak charcoal, making it completely unique among Chinese green teas.

Our Biluochun is from the Dongting core production area and is 100% wok-fried.  This traditional processing provides the classic curled shape, the bud heavy fuzzy appearance, and deeply rich vegetal taste we all know and love.

Our Minghou Dragon Well hails from the ancient production area of Qiantang, which sits just on the other side of the Qiantang River from the West Lake Scenic area in Hangzhou. This tea has the textbook flat, glossy leaves and accompanying chestnut taste iconic to longjing tea.

Finally, our Golden Green and Enshi Yulu are two fan favorites whose lighter, more refreshing flavor profiles make them perfect candidates for cold brew in the hot Summer months ahead. Here is your chance to get several infusions worth of these well loved teas at a reasonable price. The best defense against “green debt!”
