Our Qingxiang Yashixiang, or fragrant Duckshit, does not smell like duckshit, it is a winter harvest and lightly roasted varietal of dancong tea. In Chinese, this tea is called Qingxiang Yashixiang, which refers to a lightly roasted, fragrant-forward winter harvest of duckshit dancong.
This is one of our favorite styles of dancong oolong. Usually made from winter harvest, when fragrance in the leaf is at its foremost, the fragrant style dancongs are noticeably less roasted, and the varies oxidizations of the leaves are easily apparent even before brewing. The aroma of the leaves is rich, heady and complex, with plenty of cinnamon and autumn leaf scents mixed with the underlying butteriness common to the duckshit varietal. The liquor is a pale gold and can be brewed light and airy or rich and thick. This tea is excellent for waking up the nose and the senses.
