The Ginger Lily Fragrance, or the Ginger Flower Fragrance, is one of our favorite dancongs of the year.  It is a medium-roasted floral dancong whose dry leaves exude an incredible aroma of freshly baked bread with notes of honey and caramelized sugar.  The roast is right on the edge between medium and high fire, and thus the roast persists through the whole session, sweetening up after the 3rd or 4th infusion, while providing a lot of mineral textures in the first few cups.  This tea will benefit a lot from a few more months of rest, though it is already incredibly drinkable and very comfortable on the stomach.

Once brewed, the leaves open up into a richly woodsy savory bouquet with the floral fragrance lingering in the background.  There is an unmistakable hint of ginger spiciness on the wet leaves that waxes and wanes throughout the session giving credence to the name of this varietal.  The liquor is a deep amber, and is pleasantly thick in the mouth.  There is a large amount of mineral taste on the tongue with this tea, and a dry sweetness comes after a few sips.  This tea is capable of a deep huigan and a pleasant dryness on the tongue as the session progresses.

As this tea was just roasted 20 days before we wrote these tasting notes, the roast currently sits on the leaves like oil on water, and will take a few more months to fully emulsify into one mellow and harmonious whole.  As we are excited to see how such a good-source material and well roasted Dancong like this will age in time, we have a stash of this tea tucked aside for potentially later year releases, so no need to hoard your own!
