As one leaves the city and gets into the remote mountains, the indomitable power of bamboo becomes evident. Providing shade and sound, leaves and twine, shoots and tools, ladders and scaffolding, it would be a close call to decide which plant is more revered in China: tea or bamboo.

Very lightly roasted, the bamboo leaf fragrance offers a vegetal and savory bouquet. The taste is light and sweet on the tongue, but surprisingly thick in the mouth. Being so lightly roasted, this Dancong is very refreshing, a wonderful tea to sip on through the heat of summer. The empty cup aroma is also rich and long lasting, offering notes of buttered toast.
