Heicha is by far my least consumed category of tea. Well... this tea changed everything. First, the round, dense mouthfeel is astonishing. The body is oily with oaky/ autumn woods and honied ham. Once you swallow, the most wonderful warming nutty- almost baked barley- finish fills the mouth. Other impressions: aged vanilla/ if you took vanilla extract and boiled it into a resin, caramel right before it starts burning, molasses cookies, a touch of well-incorporated wood smoke, and maybe even some soy. Most prominent is this honey-glazed ham character though, I've never had a Chinese tea with such deep amber umami notes. It's in the same realm as a gyokuro, but replace the oceanic savoriness with rich autumn umami.
* Side note, I wouldn't consider the ham aspect like ORT lists in the description. It's more of a sweet, satisfyingly salty hit to the middle of the tongue. There aren't any animalic/beefy components; I wouldn't enjoy the tea if there were.
