The Golden Green tea from Hunan is one of the most promising green tea cultivars in modern China. All across central China, small villages are planting this rich, thick, and slow to bitter green tea.
Our friends at that Xiangmiao Cooperative have been cultivating their gardens for over a decade, and have continued to perfect their version of this tea. Unlike at the new sites of imitation in Central Hunan and Guizhou where Golden Green is now being produced on a larger scale, the Shi family learned the orginal method of hand shaping and oven drying that sets this style of tea apart from other greens.
It is this combination of pickdate, cultivar, terroir, and technique that produce a green tea that is cirtusy, fragrant, delicate. This will be the highest grade of Golden Green tea we will offer all year, and we will only offer it on presale up until April 5th. Then we will sell out of whatever we have left over and wait for the Mid April harvest to stock year-round.
